Well, it’s been a while, but here we are. I hope you’re ready, because the vampire SM train is about to depart.
As a quick refresher for anyone out there who might not have followed this wonderful series about a girl and the 6 heartthrobs who are her love interests, it goes something like this. Girl shows up at new school ready to board at some fancy house. Turns out house is full of vampires. They treat her like garbage and suck her blood, but slowly but surely she starts to understand why everyone is such a dick to her. Naturally, it’s because they all have mommy issues. After the initial events, Yui (our brave heroine destined to save these poor souls!) experiences a flashback where she gets a look into the childhood of her captors, and learns just how twisted their past is. It also seems she has some sort of connection to the Sakamaki siblings’ mother, Cordelia.
The current episode begins as she stands in the garden, reminiscing about the visions she’s seen…
Suddenly, Yui hears someone playing a piano. She rushes inside, and encounters Laito at the piano.
He’s soon joined by Kanato and Ayato, who ask here what she’s doing here. Naturally, her first response is then to ask about their mother from her “dream”.
There’s then DRAMATIC CLOSEUPS of each of the siblings, to signify the gravity of the question, with all of them looking pretty
Of course, the siblings then share the most wonderful story about their now deceased mother just to make sure Yui’s in “the know”, which the viewers are privy to in the form of a flashback set to SUPER DRAMATIC ORCHESTRAL METAL in the style of Versailles(-ish) or something, sans vocals.
Seems Ayato snapped one day, and stabbed his mom.
Ever the romantic. Not sure if this qualifies as your standard wincest, but because it’s Ayato and he’s
hot crazy anything goes?
Cordelia then flees to Laito, and pleads for his aid.
He obliges, and whisks her off to safety somewhere with a dramatic background and a red moon. This is the same place overlooking the gardens that Ayato was at a few episodes ago, when it was raining heavily and he was being all moody.
Laito responds in kind.
And by “in kind” I mean he pushes her off the balcony into the garden below, so that she’ll be eternally his.
Maybe Nadeko was on to something after all…
Of course, the story can’t just end there. Soon afterwards, Kanato stumbles across the corpse…
After his initial investigation, Kanato then comes across a great idea.
After learning about the circumstances surrounding their mother’s untimely demise, Yui scampers off into the garden, scared and disgusted by what the siblings have told her. This is clearly meant to be a metaphorical parallel to the tale of the Garden of Eden (those roses, knowledge as original sin, CORDELIA AS JESUS FIGURE AMIRITE?!?!1?!1!!?!), where Yui is experiencing the fall from grace due to her partaking in the original tree of knowledge. Except that Adam is 6 vampires, and Jesus is their abusive mother.
After her metaphorical journey has been made abundantly clear to us, Subaru appears from out of nowhere. He then gets super
hot angry and yells at Yui after she tries to ask him for help, and ANGRILY GRABS ROSES AND THROWS THEM ON THE GROUND.
Suddenly the mood shifts, and he goes and sucks Yui’s blood. Because why not?
BUT IT DOESN’T END THERE. After a time skip, we switch over to Yui lying down in her bed, looking a little depressed.
Lucky for us, Ayato comes to save her from her morose thoughts.
I take it back. Ayato x Yui OTP. I can’t imagine a guy saying anything more romantic to me while holding me tight after sneaking into my room.
